prizm skimmer

I bought a prizm skimmer about a month ago and it has not pulled any thing out of my water?????no foam, what is going on Is it not working????

i think some skimmers need a break in time, but a month sounds a bit excessive. Try turning up the amount of bubbles, or raising the water level.

prizms are a bit of a full time job at first. I hated mine for a long time. My advice is set it real low and wait. If your tank is new there probably isn't all that much for it to pull out. It may take a while, but in time your prizm will start to work a lot better...just try to get used to the noise.

Ill second and third that. It took a couple weeks for it to pick up much. It needs a lengthy break in time and even then it's kind of iffy as far as how well it works. Turn up the flow in it. Keep an eye on the spout because it will water foam as opposed to bubble foam. Water foaming meaning it just sucks out water and bubble foam meaning it is properly bubbling over with just waste... You can tell by the color of the water. If its green/brown then its pulling out gunk, if clear then just water and you have it open to much....
