Prizm & ZoeCon

Finally got both today!
I setup the prizm and got it running and was even producing some white froth in the neck of the collection cup, however, when I used the Zoecon which I had soaked my food in, then fed fish, the froth in the Prizm disappeared! Zoecon, unlike other vit. supplements I've used, is not watery, but kinda thick, like liguid soap. Now, I know that some addititves effect skimmer performance. Anybody use Zoecon? It does have various fish oils in it, so I'm guessing its going to effect the skimmer. Also, it produced a bit of a "milkyness" to my water.
Zoe uses: Is Zoe milky and thick like this Zoecon? If not, perhaps, I need to switch to that, otherwise, it doesn't look like my skimmer is going to perform.
Salty, I know you use Zoe...what's the consistency of Zoe?

I might just go ahead and get the Zoe, as I didn't buy this skimmer just so it can circulate water like my worthless SeaCone did. Also, I don't want my tank looking like I poured milk into it.
But will wait for more input from BB members! [Steve, where are you when I need you! LOL]
Thanks, Bob...I'll be wanting to hear from you after you set up your skimmer and use your Zoe with that skimmer. Please let me know.

SORRY BETH,I did not respond before because BOBBER is right. ZOE is green water,a little oily but dosn't mess up my water. Smells kinda like childerens liquid vitamins.I've never heard anyone say this about ZOECON,but I'll look into it tomorrow.I would suggest you try the regular ZOE.I have had very good luck with it treating HLLE.

Zoecon is rather thick, and the food does obsorb it up if you let it soak for about 10mins before feeding. The milkyness in tank effect seems to go away, but it did knock out my new skimmer foam production.
I'll be very interested to see what Bob's results are using just Zoe. [BTW: I ordered my prizm last Sat at @@@@@@@@@@@@.@@@ LOL and it arrived today--great shipping and the cheapest price I've found anywhere--thanks BB members who gave me the sale tip!].
I find the prizm to be noisy [at least so far]; pretty much the same noise level as the old SeaClone. Its not the pump, water or impeller noise. Its air mixing with water noise [just like venturi skimmers]

Good to hear from you Hermit! And that you are using Zoecon with the Prizm, thus I won't start worrying YET! LOL Its just when I was getting foam and then it suddenly stopped when Zoecon was added, I got worried. Any comments about noise level? Actually, I'm not the only one complaining about noisy skimmer....my hippo was so upset that he wouldn't even come out to eat 2nite!

Beth I have used Selcon for awhile and it too is thick and milky. I like to soak spirulina flakes with it because the flakes absorb it much better and release less into the water which also means more in your fish. You may need to soak your food longer with it for it to absorb completely. There is a little milkyness in the water when I put Selcon soaked food in but it clears rapidly. No food additive should stop skimmer production it may slow it or raise it but the skimmer will pull it out so dont worry. A skimmer once broke in will not always pull waste unless there is something to pull.

It comes with its own tiny little pump, O3 which is external, thus does not add to tank heat.
O3, weren't your trying to send me something the other day? What happened?

LOL!
The first time I used Zoecon, I used WAY too much and my water turned milky for a few hours :)
With that stuff, a little dab will do ya

I find that it's best mixed with regular Zoe.
I take about 3 days of brine and throw it into a cup. Put a bunch of Zoe, and 3 drops of Zoecon in there and let it sit in the refrigerator for a few hours...
Then I feed a bit a day and repeat the process...
My Tang was in pretty bad shape from lack of nutrition, but after about 2 weeks of this, he looks wonderful.

The pump impeller is another innovation that they(red sea) have introduced in this new skimmer. It has a 12 bladed impeller ,much more efficient at moving water than anyother impeller type pump out there.

Update: Well the prizm valve is virtually in the closed position and some white [clean] foam trickles up the throat...no real good gunk yet. If I turn the valve open even a little bit, then the foam makes it up all the way to mouth of the cup and spills over into the collection cup, but its only seawater.
Also, I don't like having to disconnect just to empty the cup. If you disconnect the cup while the prizm is still running then you have to turn the value completely off, thereby messing up with your settings. Thus, I'm basically disconnecting the skimmer for the minute it takes me to empty the cup. Anybody figured out a way of emptying the cup wo turning the valve closed or disconnecting the skimmer?
BTW O3, I talked to a local professional aquarist today and he recommended the ETS! Thought you'd like that. He also told me that the prizm is only good for a 30gal or less tank . LOL
Anyway, I am anxiously awaiting to see if I can get this prizm to work for me!

Now you tell me! LOL I was actually going to get the Remora pro when the Prizm suddenly came out and I went with it. It was so widely praised by users on this BB so I went with the it.
We'll see what it does.
