Probs w/ soft corals

I got a rock with xenia on it 3 months ago. Some was brown and some white. All the larger brown ones have shrunk up 2 weeks ago but the white ones are pulsing away.
Also I have some anthelia that has been fine for 3 months and 2 days ago it is shunk up to nothing but little buds.
Green star polyps are still doing well as well as mushrooms, ricordia and many button polyps. All fish are ok too.
Corals are not being harassed any, just wont open.
All tests are good except nitrate is 20 and phosphates are .2 constantly. Temp 81, salinity 1.024
Regular water changes, lights are 400w PC on a 180 gal setup for 9 months now. This is my first problem.
Anyone?

Check out the white xenia. Just to the left are 3 stumps of the dying xenia that used to be twice as tall as the white. Then in the right foreground in an unknown that has doubled in size.
Maybe I should give up salt and try photography because I stink at that too!

exenia goes through phases where it appears that they whole lot is dead or dying and then come back with a vengence. vut there are some that they just wont live. I had 2 tanks both had exenia same lighting setup and water tests one tank the exania thrived the second it lived for a while and then crashed no reason why. I took some out of the other tank added to the second tank and boom its dead after growing for a short time. no detectable reasoning or anything. there are a few threads that I have read that has or had the same problem.
so there is no particular reason if your water is right then its something but I cant answer what is causing it though.
sorry I hope that kinda explained something LOL

it may not be dead so I would leave it unless its slimy and falling apart. if its still solid leave it in because it may start to come back in time.
