Proclear Wet/Dry Questions-Kind of Urgent!

Okay, reason this is semi-urgent is that I have an order of live rock to be delivered tommorow, so I appreciate any insight I can get.
I tried to call the manufacturer about the system, but I had to use my cell phone because Verizon's wiring is all messed up so our normal phone doesn't work. There was too much static for the guy to even hear me.
So I set up my very first tank, a 125g. I got the Proclear Pro 150 Wet/Dry with built in Protein Skimmer and all...
Whenever I even gently tap the sand it gets stirred up and creates a huge sandstorm that lasts for at least a day before it clears up. This puts all the gunk and soot into my filter. However, when I try to clean the filter pads or the blue polishing pad, in the process of removing it some always ends up back in the filter which then gets pumped into the DT and starts the vicious cycle all over again. Is there anything I can do to help prevent that or anything? To remove the blue polishing block you kind of have to press it down to remove it which ends up re-releasing it into the water....
Next, If anybody has the Proclear Pro 150 wet/dry and can provide picture or give a description of how to set up the protein skimmer/pump/manifold I would be incredibly grateful. I can't for the life of me figure out the built in protein skimmer. I know it's not the best but its not working at all right now and even a little is better than none, perhaps it would even help remove the soot?
Anyways, as per instructions I place the pump into the filter with the "manifold" attached. I then slide the skimmer body down over the manifold. The manifold is kind of touching the wall of the filter opposite of where the motor is so sliding the skimmer body down over the manifold is kind of tough. Once I turn the motor on there are no bubbles produced, only an intermittent flow of water. The odd part is that when I move the skimmer body up off the manifold the manifold produces a ton of bubbles? I don't get it and its driving me insane.

It should be noted that the original package they sent me was missing the manifold so they sent me a new one. Could they have sent me the wrong one possibly? The white manifold touches the filter wall making it hard to slide the skimmer over it...
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
For reference, a picture of the filter itself, not assembled...

Piece in my filter I'm having trouble with...

I have this exact unit and I would be willing to help you. If you look at the first diagram you posted copy that exactly, as that is the correct way to do it.
Make sure the air tube from that piece is outside of your wetdry.
Also bubbles do not continually flow out of it mine only happens now and then.
In the protein skimmer chamber it should look like a circular movement of water and not see through.
Hopefully that helps

Thank you so much!
So the pump for the protein skimmer is supposed to have the 4 little knobs facing the bottom? I tried to place the pump that way but there isn't enough clearance between the pump and the tube the water enters through.

Also, there is some water bubbles inside of the tube. Is that going to cause failure until it is totally dry? I have let it run for a day or so but produced absolutely no skim. Granted there really isn't any surface material since there is absolutely nothing in the tank but water and sand, but when I first filled the tank there was a thick yellow foam on the surface for quite a while.
Also, I've heard of people making the water level higher so that it is closer to the collection area of the skimmer. Does that mean they raise that little wall where the water spills onto the blue pad?
Also, do you by chance know where this goes? Didn't see it in the directions....

if you look at the pump for the skimmer you'll see a fitting (on the elbow) for a airline and a valve. then that hooks on the valve and hangs outside of the wet dry allowing you to adjust the air flow. it works as a muffler.

let us know how u make out its a great unit, I recently removed my bioballs filled it up more and I am floating cheato in the middle with a 6500k bulb on it

Okay I've got two more questions. I'm waiting for my live rock to arrive tomorrow to see how much water it will displace in the tank so I don't want to add more water just yet.
However, the only loud part of the filter is the water pouring out of the little hole on top of the return. I know it has to be there to prevent the water from siphoning back into the filter but is there anything I can put in front of the spout to displace the water and make it less noisy? I was thinking of just putting a piece of tape in front of it ( not over it ) but that would definitely put some chemicals into the tank I would assume...
Also, the filter hasn't yet passed the power failure test. I unplug both pumps but yet the water will always be about to overflow the filter before I plug the return pump back in. I would assume this is because there is still water for the siphon to siphon over the back of the tank. Would raising the overflow box help with that? So that way eventually the siphon runs out of water to siphon? On the other hand if it does run out of water to siphon when the power comes back on it will not pump water into the filter which will make the return pump burn up and possibly cause a fire. I don't understand how to prevent the filter from overflowing but yet without breaking the siphon in the overflow?

you won't have to if you drill a hole in your return line just about level with the water level.

Right the hole will allow the line to suck in air breaking the syphon that starts when your pump shuts down. Also once you do this unplug the pump and let the water stop draining to the sump then mark the levels in your sump so that you know how full it can be without overflowing when the power goes out then plug the pump back in and make sure everything starts working again repeat this a few times and make sure everything work like it supposed to.
