Product Name: Emperor 280 Biowheel Filter

Approximate Cost: $89.99
Features: Standard Hang On Back form, Black ABS plastic filter. Nice sized powerhead. Easy to start, just put water in the back of the filter and let it work. Includes bio-wheel for ammonia and nitrite detoxification. Also includes a spray bar to adjust how quickly the bio-wheel spins. There is a "carbon filter" option, in which you can fill a tray full of carbon for the water to run through. Built very sturdy.
Benefits: Bio-wheel allows for ammonia and nitrite detoxification. Very sturdy and dependable design. Filters the water relatively quickly.
Pros: An Emperor 280 is for anywhere from 20gallons to 50 gallons. It filters the water relatively quickly and the mechanical filter pads are relatively inexpensive. The carbon tray option is very beneficial, because it allows direct contact with the carbon and flowing water. The top to the filter prevents excess salt creep and water noise.
Cons: It can stop flowing as rapidly when the filter intake is clogged because of algae. The spray bar on the bio-wheel can clog over time if not cleaned.
Tips and Tricks: If you have a cloudy tank, you might want to consider a bio-wheel. Bio-wheel filters add extra surface area for beneficial bacteria to build up on. Essentially detoxifying Ammonia and Nitrite. While some people argue that it is a nitrate "factory" it is merely doing its job of detoxifying ammonia and nitrite. Nitrate builds up because of excessive foods, and no evidence as proven that bio-wheels are unnecessary nitrate "factories." Always set the spray bar to turn the bio-wheel the fastest that it can.

Personal Opinion: I have used this product for a long time. Out of all the Aquaclear filters, whisper filters, and other knock off and cheap filters, this one model has been proven to me to last longer and work better then any other hang on back filter that I have ever used.
