Finally some macros and my first fish. Just thought I would post some pics of my tank and the progress I have made so far with the help of all the great people on the site. I got a blue spotted watchmen gobie. He is very shy so I was so happy I was able to get a picture of him. Pics of tank and gobie

I have one, but it kept getting wet when I was doing water changes, and it looked kind of cheap taped on with scotch tape. I wish they made something like a window tint that would not be affected by getting wet. I have heard of people having the back of the tank painted, but it's too late for that now. Oh well.

black limo tint. You actually get the glass a tad wet before you put it on, and the water wont realy affect it, kinda makes it water tight.

I am not having much luck keeping my macros alive. I had a couple of mermaid fans that looked fine when I went to bed one night and when I woke up the next morning the one of the fans was white and the water in the tank was all green and cloudy. I took it out and did a big water change and it cleared up. Now today it happened again with another plant. Any Ideas what I could be doing wrong?

I didnt have luck with the mermaids fan either.
What lights are you running and what are your water readings

What is your calcium level? Both the mermaids fan and Halimeda are calcareous macroalgaes and need supplemental calcium in the tank to properly grow.
Proper lighting is another issue with macroalgaes such as caulerpa, etc.

Me neither...LOL...I have tried the fan plants, and the shaving brush...I have metal halides and calcium is like 440....
so I have no clue why they just die on me
