got the MH's installed...
...in the new canopy. Cut holes for the two PFO 4" fans and installed the two 250 watt 65k iwasakis. Fired 'em up just so I could see how bright they are and wow!!! Later today I'll edit and post a few pics of the slow progress so far.

Yup...it is fun. Even after months of plans and comtemplation! The first version of NM Reef was started with absolutely zero knowledge and/or experience. During these three years I've put together a basic plan or concept for a new version and finally it is all starting to take shape!
Here are a few pics from last nights progress. I managed to install the pair of PFO 4" fans(one in each end pulling air out of the canopy) and the two 250 watt Iwasaki retros with reflectors. The ballast will be remote mounted in the filtration room behind the display...I just have it here to trial run it. I can't wait to fire these lamps up with the tank filled!! Eventually there will be 4x65 10K PC's where the ballast is sitting and 2x110 super actinic VHO's along the front edge.
I plan to keep the majority of my current LPS corals spread thru the new display...plus in time there will be assorted SPS types and a few new clams under the MH's. A mixed reef with mixed lighting areas.
This first pic is from the end of the canopy looking towards the opposite end.

...and another look at one of the 250 watt Iwasaki retros.
I'd take a pic of them fired up but it blinds me!!!
