So I got me a 1 of 4 produced Tunze MACNA promo tanks 40cm (15.748inches) x40cmx35cm (13.78inches) tall which is roughly 15gallons with matching stand. I had been begging this LFS owner to sell me this thing for the last 10 months and its been mostly kept as a dwarf puffer planted FW tank for his display. I was surprised at how relatively cheap he let it go too.. friend discount I guess.. We called the Tunze guy just to see if they made an oem light and stuff for it, he laughed and thats when we learned they made 4 of them.
enjoy.
rimless, braceless, black silicone, sexy. these cellphone pics are not however. lol.

What are you going to put in it?
Its very sleak right now. Is there a hood or cover for it? How are you going to keep all the equipment from dominating the tank?
This will be a fun thread to watch.

good deal! I paid $110 just for the ADA tank.
What are you going to do for the filter? I'm not going have a filter on mine.

Looks nice,
If u wanted some filteration u could order a couston overflow from glassholes, and there nano overflow is really small... It wouldnt take up much room at all if u wanted to drill it

that's what I'm gonna do and use the stand to hide its ugliness... But fitting a sump is gonna be hard because I need to see if a 5.5 even fits below...
For filtration, live rock, chemipure, and a turf scrubber below in sump. I need to get a two part dosing pump and ATO for it. It'll have one means of circulation which is the return pump so well placed rock is the key. I don't want a bunch of koralia nanos cluttering the tank and don't want to fork out a grand for vortech pumps as thats silly...
LPS, softie tank. No lid, going to run a 70w K2 viper MH over it. probably an astrolux 14,000k bulb.
fish: yellow assessor basslet, 2 neon gobies blue, 1 rainfords goby, 1 hectors goby, 2 gold nosed eviota gobies, and maybe another fish. These are all nothing fish as far as bioload is concerned. yellow assessor will be first. The livesand and liverock is all going to be stuff I have laying around... I'll take a scoop or two from my 20long and put it in this tank to seed the sand and the rock will color up within a week as its already cured sitting in a tub awaiting a tank and a light.
Anyone had success keeping catalina gobies in a "hot" tank?

Catalina gobies live off the cost of CA and the temps are 50F-60F. IMO, Its not a very good idea to keep a Catalina gobie in a 80F tank. If you keep the tank at 60F-70F, then the Catalina gobie will probably be fine.

i saw one of these little guys at my lfs today, he was in a 8gallon nano with a little little yellow tang andddd something else. He seemed happy, the poor tang however was skinny along with all the other little tangs in there ://

People have had them in hotter tanks, but I'm looking at long term success rate. As far as lighting goes, I won't use a hood at all, but I may use a lamp that connects to the stand to hover over the tank. I don't feel like drilling into my apartment roof as I don't own it and would not like to pay for damages when I move out.

The Catalina gobie may seem fine, but they will not live very long in a "hot" tank. IMO, skip the Catalina gobie and get something els.

Yeah I'm not going to do a catalina, that'd be highly irresponsible.
