Protein filter's pump.

I'm setting up the protein filer and the pump is pretty big
It is U G L Y...
Can I have some advice on the best way to hide this thing?
I was thinking about keeping it lower to the ground and hiding it behind rocks, but I dont really like this idea...
Somebody mentioned a sump, but I don't know how these work.

What kind of skimmer and pump are they?

Im really not too sure...
the skimmer is a backpak that sits on the back of my tank.
From there I attach a fully submersable pump. I think it was called a rio 2100 or something, but Im probably wrong
But, it's a pretty large box.
I don't want it hanging in my tank, cause it is ugly
I know someone mentioned a sump, but I don't even know what one is, let alone how to set one up
