Protein skimmer=alot of foam

Hi new to these fourms.. I have a 55 i have had going for about 3 weeks now. I was not using substrate till now. i have changed my mind so i got 100 pounds yesterday put it in. it got pretty cloudy, today its clear. my question is i finally turned my skimmer back on and its foam is going nutz will i have to turn it off for a few days forsome reason?

I would prolly let all the sand settle down..Did you add sand with livestock in the tank??? :scared:
Like said though..I would let it die down some..

I have about 10 pounds of lr right now. it looks prety clear maby another day will help... the cup filled up iin about 15 mins...

Try adjusting the air valve. It shouldnt fill up that fast.

No air valve AquaC It did not do that till i put in sand. About 24 hrs ago..

Leave it off until the water is completely clear, then start using it again.

Woot Woot...Good luck...If I even add the slightest bit of anything to my tank the skimmer freaks out...They can be so harrasing sometimes..

How does this skimmer get air? i cant find anyway it does? or is the only way to control the amount by moving the cup up and down...Its been 3 days now and its still going crazy all clear foam also not dark!!The cup fiils up in 15 mins with it all the way up?

it gets air with the air pump.... there has to be some knob or something... that adjusts how fast/much water goes into your skimmer ... adjust it so less water goes in.. gl

I cant find anything the air tube off the mj1200 but i have that closed all the way...
