Protein Skimmer HELP

Ok i have a 10g getting it up to a reef tank. I have a millieium 1000 with only the bio part in and a power head. All of my water conditions are good. I have alot of green hair and brown bubble algy. How do I get rid of it? I was going to get 2 emerald crabs this weekend. I hear they take care of that like of algy. I have 2 ocellus clowns, a cleaner shrimp, 7 crabs, and 4 snails. Should I get rid of the filter and put in a skimmer? If so which one? oh yeah im in college so money is kinda an issue. Thanks for everything in advanced.

a protien skimmer is always a good idea for any marine aquarium in my opinion and experience. emerald crabs I have heard go after bubble algea mostly, I'm not sure if they would touch hair. Turbos might go after it, as may a margarita snail.
