protein skimmer help

I just moved my 55 gallon tank and when i put my protein skimmer in it started acting weird. Its pulling out a collection cup every 5 minutes with clear water. I usually get a fraction of a cup every few weeks with green slime. what can i do to fix it? its a seaclone skimmer.

It's because it's a seaclone in my opinion. I had one that never brought anything up except clean water, and then it stopped making bubbles. It was a piece of junk. I couldn't even clean the inside because of the way it was put together.

I never had a seaclone but it sounds like your bubble flow is to great. Is there a way to adjust this rate?

The only thing you can try to do is clean it out, but it sounds like you might have already tried that. Other options: increase flow through the skimmer via a pump, or just chunk it. You might find someone on here who can fix it, but seaclones are made so you can't take em apart. Although, if you soaked it in some bleached water and pumped water through it for a few days, it might help.

Skimmers usually go crazy if you add stresscoat or certain chemicals. However it sounds like yours is doing nothing even when it is working, I would invest in a quality skimmer.

Turn the bubble level way down until you think it will not even go into the collection cup and it will usually get there within a few hours. Re-read your directions.
