protein skimmer help

I just setup my first in-sump style skimmer yesterday. The aqua medic t-1000 recirculating instructions said that it has a 4-12 hour break in period. I know that skimmers go through these, but mine still isnt producing any kind of gunky foam. (24 hours in) it has however produced some clearish cloudy stuff though. i have my overflowed t'd off to my skimmer with a ball valve controlling the flow to the skimmer. I had it wide open so i turned it back 25%. anyone know whats up here?

4-12 hours seems a little short to me, skimmers can take as much as two weeks to start skimming so I wouldn't be to concerned yet and it seems you are heading in the right direction if you are starting to get some clear foam after 24hrs it should begin to darken over the next few days so be patient.
