I recently bought a seaclone protein skimmer and have had it setup in the sump of my wet/dry filter for about 5 days now and it doesn;t seem to be doing anything but making noise. I have tried adjusting the air valve but it doesn't seem to help. I got the protein skimmer becuase of a breack out in a couple diferent types alge following the cycling of my tank mainly hair alge. any advise??

I have not heard very many good things about the seaclone skimmer but I can tell you this: It is still a skimmer. It wouldn't be sold if it didn't skimm. give it some time and let it do its job before tweaking or throwing it out :) HTH

As mentioned above sometimes it takes a little while.
Also if it is a newer setup there may not be much to skim.

thanks for the replies. it is a new setup just finished cycling about a week aog and all my levels are 0!! I just ordered a clean up crew and hopefully they get rid of some of the alge and can keep it clean. Thanks again

My skimmer took about a week before it started making some foul stuff. Now it's working great.
Also just put in my clean up crew last week...it took care of my algae. At least 90% is gone already!
Things will come around...
Good luck with the tank!
