Protein Skimmer Question

I have a Coralife 65 Protein Skimmer that is hanging on top of my 65 gallon tank. As of right now it is doing an excellent job, but has a little micro bubble problem. I also have a Euro-Reef CS5-2 but the pump is broken.
My question is should I buy a replacement pump for the Euro Reef and place it in my wet/dry sump or should I just keep the Coralife hanging on the top of the tank. Does a protein skimmer do a better job inside the tank or inside a sump?

It makes no difference where you put the skimmer, but IMO a Euro-Reef skimmer is far superior to a Coralife Super Skimmer. I'd get the pump for it and use it.

That is what I figured. I see them at almost all pet stores. So it is worth spending ~$80 for a pump to have euro reef in my sump ?

I have this same problem with mine right now! How do I get it to stop?!

Well, the pump for the coralife is what, about 5 inches under water?? The benefit of an in sump skimmer is that the "surface" water is what over flows to the sump and the sump has a higher concentration of protein to pull out.
Since it floats, a pump that far under the water will not pull out as much as a sump one will..
As far as the bubble question, mine had a box that it flowed back into and the box had a couple of sponges in it to trap the bubbles...

Ok thank you guys that makes sense.
I have the box too with sponges but micro bubbles still continue to come out of it. Especially during feeding time them whole tank is covered with them.

How long has the corallife been set up. Has it been broken in yet. But anyhow I agree with everyone else about the new pump to get the euro reef going.
