I have a built in skimmer with my W/D filter & when I had stress coat should I pull the plumbing out of the skimmer's canister compartment & let the sucked in oxygenated water run in the first of the three compartments of the w/d filter? I think (can't remember) that adding treatment (stress coat, trance elements, & most solutions to treat the water) will make the protein skimmer over produce foam. Tell me which, please. Thanks

I would turn the skimmer off or pull the collection cup out when adding any additives atlease for a couple of days. Stress coats are the number one problem with skimmers foaming up. Below is a write up on it from bakpak skimmers. Or you can keep it on but you will get tons of bubbles for about a week.
The surface tension of the water has been increased by the addition of additives such as medications, stress coats, dechlorinators or conditioners. Use of these products will prolong the problem. If medicating, disable the protein skimmer by submerging the airline into the water (remove muffler first) or shutting off the air valve for 24 hours.
