protein skimmer working too hard?

So i hooked up my protein skimmer today..and man it started pumping foam up...and well then over the cup and down the wall..soo..im thinking its alittle much...how much foam should be produced and how high should i have this thing going on? its a seaclone 100 and i bought it used

if your tank has never been skimmed its typical to "overproduce" It will steadily die down and eventually won't do much.

can you adjust the airflow on it? sounds like it is getting too much air mixed in with the water.
or...do you use "stress coat" or some other water conditioner? skimmers are known to over produce bubbles when the water has this type of conditioner in it.

it does have an air control valve but i didnt want to turn it down so low that it doesnt work...also i have never used conditioner in the tank...i bought the skimmer off of ----. it also makes a lot of bubbles in my tank..how do i stop that?

the bubbles in the tank should subside after you have used the skimmer for a few weeks. it is getting broken in right now.
