protein skimmer

im looking for the most efficent protein skimmer that is under $300. i have a 90 and i dont want to have it in my sump if i dont have to. i would like to have the skimmer outside of the sump or hanging on to the sump.
im looking for something that i may be able to get close to 1000 gph going through it

why do you want 1000 gph going though the skimmer? Why no in sump skimmer?
I'd get either a Geo recirc 626 model, you can use this out of sump but it will probably cost you between 400.00-450.00...or get the ASM G2 or G3, these are in sump skimmers but the cost is less the 250.00.

i want to get something like 1000 gph into it because i want to have it skimm the entire tank close to 10 times in an hr. i was thinking of having the over flow go straight to the skimmer.
i dont know why i dont want it in the sump but i want to try not to have it in there.
do you know anything about the bullet series skimmers?

Bullet series skimmers are beckett head skimmers, You'll want to run a GOOD external pump that will do 1000 gph +. Very good skimmers. The MRC skimmers were pretty much copied from the Precision Marine skimmers. The MRC 1 is pretty much the same skimmer as the Bullet 1 and cost a little less.
You can't run this skimmer from your overflow. You'll probably want something like a Turbofloater or other recirc skimmer.
FWIW, I probably run about 150 gph through my skimmer.

I have 75gal tank and wood like to no what Metal Halide lights I can use? Can I use 2x70 HQI Metal Halide or 2x150 HQI Metal Halide? :thinking: I wood like to use 2x70 HQI Metal Halide if I can. I have a pic of the Lights. I hope some one can help me

To add what Golfish was saying about the Bullet skimmers.....They are becketts and not sure if they can be run by being fed directly from your overflow.....I do know that if you do a little homework and check out the MRC you will find that you can run these from your overflow and the MRC now has out recircs on their becketts as well........Possibly something you might be interested in??????

Can you run the standard MRC becketts from the overflow? I can see the recirc model running off the O-F..

vdubfiend if i can ask you to do one thing. put a tape measure next to your g2 skimmer and lift the cup off and tell me how high it get so i know how much space i need to get the cup off
