protein skimmer

Ever since I hooked up my protein skimmer if adds air bubbles to my tank as the water pours back into the tank. Is something hooked up wrong. The bubbles make the tank appear cloudy.
Any thoughts

I don't know what type of skimmer you have, but some you can just add filter floss to the return, and that will take care of the bubble problem.

I had a Lot of problems with that myself. Is your protein skimmer inside the wet/dry filter or does it hang off the back of the tank? I had to put mine inside the wet/dry and then I bought some blue foam (the kind that you buy at the LFS) and had to place that underneath my bubble defuser box. that way the water coming from it would hit the foam instead of the water causing somewhat of a waterfall affect causing the bubbles. This solved my problem because the pump i have is located inside my wet/dry filter next to the protein skimmer. Hope this helps!

I also had a question with my protein skimmer. It is a coralife 65 and it is for my 40 gallon reef tank. Everything works great but my protein skimmer isn''t bubbling up at the top and falling into the collection cup. I have adjusted everything you can and more to try to get it to bubble up more but nothing has worked. I was told by my LFS that it is probably because my tank is small and the protein skimmer is big for it so there isn't much to bubble up. Is this right info? thanks!
