Protein Skimmer?

A friend of mine gave me his SeaClone100 Protein Skimmer. It comes with a Maxi-Jet 1200. I know its a big skimmer but i was wondering if would be able to use it for my little 12gal? Maybe i could get the Maxi-Jet 400. I dont know if you can even change it. I was just wondering if i would be able to use the skimmer the way it is or if i change it would it make it work for my tank? any input would be great.

I wouldnt recommend it. Smaller powerhead or not, the volume of bubbles would be ridiculous. 12g Eclipse or Nano?

i wouldnt use that skimmer on it with the pump, pump puts out heat. besides, you shouldnt really need a skimmer on such a small tank. water changes once a week should be good enough

if you have room you can try it out. i thought this was like a regular jbj nanocube aquarium. i never liked the seaclone skimmers since they would barely work
like i said, you dont really need one if youre doing your water changes weekly. i never ran a skimmer on my 10g tank, and im not running one on my 14g. i will on my 28 though since i feed a little too much
