protein skimmer

I'm installing a new proiein skimmer on my 55 gal. tank but not getting "sticky" bubbles. PH is 8.4 and salinity is @1.26? I havent checked carbonate hardness is this a factor?

What kind of skimmer is it??? Certain brands seem to work better than others.

I agree with others. I don't think water hardness matters. Also, if it's a new tank with nothing in it (ie no live rock curing, no fish being fed, etc.) you're not going to get any skimmate.

yep. it needs to break in. the process of manufacturing leaves a residue on the plastic that needs to wear off.
what type of skimmer?
