Protein Skimmers

I have a 110 gallon tank and need to purchase a protein skimmer. Is there a good one that you can recommend. I currently have Berlin Air Lift 90 and have been told that they are not very good. The sump is built in the back by the bio media balls and there is not much room for even a hang on type. I was thinking I would need a type that would go below in the cabinet and have just the pump in the aquarium sump similar to the Turboflotor 1000. Price is not a concern. No fish in the aquarium at this point.
I'm new to saltwater so I know very little about protein skimmers but I have read quite a bit. Tank has been up and running for about six months.
Thanks for your time.

Do you have any inverts in the tank? If your nitrate levels are low I wouldn't worry about upgrading the skimmer unless you are planning to add fish to the tank. If you want the highest efficiency skimmer, look into the downdraft type, they are impressive to say the least, but so is the price and they do take up a considerable amount of room. ETSS 600 pro is an example that would work well on your tank ($499 + price of 30 RLT Iwaki). You probably don't need that much horsepower though unless you plan on keeping SPS corals.
