Protien Skimmer question?

I went to my lfs this morning and walked out with a "Protien Skimmer & Visi~jet Power Head" made by Aquarium Systems. It is all 1 complete set up. I got it because it was on sale for $42.99.....did I get a good deal?
Also before I attempt to use it, is there anything I need to know prior to putting in my tank? I don't want a good thing to go bad right at the start.

Just want to clarify a few things first also,....
it is rated for a 70gal./250L
and has the following:
1) prefilter
2) Turbo-Venturi injector system
3) Built in flow meter
4) contact chamber
5) foam concentration chamber
6) foam collection chamber
7) directional output (located at the very bottom where it would be in my sub. )
I know nothing about PS, so any help is welcomed

Is it a Sea Clone? If so does the tube inside the skimmer go all the way to the top or half way? If it goes all the way to the top return it. It is the old model and does not work all that great.
