I have been wondering for a long time what a exactly a protien skimmer removes from the aquarium. Some poeple say it skims fish waste from the water and other tell me its the gunk the collects on the surface. Or is it both? Is the gunk on the surface organic matter from the fish waste? Beacuase the fish waste i beleive is ammonia but i dont think ammonia is lighter and less dense then H2. Im confused! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
