Protien Skimmer??

Ok i have a bak pak protien skimmer on my 30 gallon so i know what a protien skimmer is supposed to do,and the protien skimmer that came with my new 125 gallon tank is "supposed" to work we tried it with tap water to make sure the pumps worked and they did,now it is in the sump and its not making foam (protien) go up the tube into the collection cup. is this because we dont have anything to make protien.All we have in it is aragonite sugar fine sand and water??is this normal??

it can take up to 5-7 days to fully break in.

ok so its just because there is nothing to make protien??

do you have anything in the tank?

Also the salinity of the water makes a difference, if its to low, or just FW for testing you'll get nothing.
