Protien Skimmer ?

Hello, I have a quick question regarding a protien skimmer. I finally got my tank and stand (55g) which I am very excited about, the guy I bought from said that I wont need a skimmer nor will I want one for like 6 months.?.?.
Here is what my tank is like, 55g only fish going to use non live sand with a wet/dry filter, a hang on mechanical/chemical cansister fiter, I havent got a skimmer yet I was planning on buying a prisim hang on. Also if it means anything I am going to put like 30lbs of lr for the critters and the looks, I am on a tight budget so that is why.

Hey Joe!
The guy that set up my 180 FO said that I would want to purchase a skimmer when I was near capacity as far as my fish and bioload. I purchased a skimmer 4 months after setup. I love it!!! Because my fish are little I don't think I'm near my tank's capacity yet. I will be though when they grow some!!! <smile>
I bought the skimmer "early" because I started noticing fleshy looking stuff floating around on the cc. It's all gone now!!! <smile>
