some, are definitely better than others, but just like i mentioned in your other post, what do you intend to do wiht the tank(what fish, or coralsand inverts), also what type of skimmer are you looking for, a hang on or an in sump? and what size tank, there are many skimmers ont he market, and although most do have their avantages for paying the extra money, some times you can't seem to be able to jsutify the price for your system(ex. almost no one really wants to spend 300$+ for a skimer for a 20 gallin tank, and so on)
and to add there, how much (if any) do you intend to set aside for a skimmer, you really should not skimp on skimming, but we can't always afford the actual best

for less agressive fish and nothing too heavy, in the under 100$ range, for a 60 gallon(was it?), tehn i would get a seaclone or a prizm, i like the prizm better and have seen them for as little as 70 and change on line, sea clones run about the same but i like the prizm better, but if money were not a huge factor, then i would look into something a bit better(however this is gonna mena more money too), my first choice is the remora or remora pro, but htey are much more than 75$(at least 2 times as much, minimum)

they and seaclones are better than most skimmers in the under 100$ range
as far as which of the 2 is pretty mcuh evenly split amoungst users, but i agree with anthem you would be better off witha better skimmer if you can see clear to doing so

it may depend on your hardware setup. do you have room and $$ for a sump, or do you only have enough room for a H/O type skimmer? if you live in the so.cal area, check out www.recycler.com and click into the "fish/aquariums" section. you may be able to find a good skimmer for your needs at a low price. :)

I think anthem is right. I have an unopened prizm skinner I got on the iternet that is supposed to be good for under 90 tanks. I got it for less than $50 because I thought it was a good deal. As a newby I am learning you get what you pay for. Why unopened, I've been doing a lot of reading... and well, anyone want it?

Don't know about the under $100 models, but if you DO decide to spend a little more...my Remora Pro skims like mad (although it does have a few anoying design details).

I am also looking to buy a new skimmer and I have been looking on ----.com They have brand new ones and used ones for a reasonable price. They're way cheaper than the prices at a fish store that I've seen. just type in "protein skimmer" in your search and you should get a whole big list on them

if anybody wants, i have a brand new, never used, still in the box, berlin turbo skimmer. it is the in sump model, and rated 25-250 gallons. i use one and love it! just no use for the second one. 150 dollars plus shipping. FIRM!
