Providing food for a Rainfords goby

Hi everyone, i have had my tank running for about a year and my LFS recently gave me a Rainfords goby because of the death of a wild caught Bangaii that wouldnt eat. I see this awesome new goby picking at the LR and sifting the sand.. He does not have any interest in frozen foods (anyway to get him to start?). Would a one year old 3" sandbed and 40 lbs of LR in a 44 gal tank support this guy? I only see a few pods a day in my tank, so i dont believe i have a very big pod population.... any inputs?

From what I looked up this fish is pod eater, claims it will take frozen food try small mysis shrimp staright or soaked in garlic. This fish will not survive for long on the pods in your tank. Sorry to give you bad news. Your LFS didn't do you any favors with this fish, good luck. also try Rod's food if its carried by your LFS. I use a baby eye dropper to shoot the food at them.

Ya i know, i am fairly dissapointed myself after doing research on this fish.. If he is picking at stuff, does that always mean he is eating? or could he also be 'trying' to eat? any tips on how to populate pods in the DT? i have no fuge but have alot of rubble in the corner of my DT

You can set up a separate 5 gal tank to rear pods, there is a lot of info in forms if your search it. This will be a lot cheeper than buying pods all the time. This site sells them and there others out there that can sell them to you. As for your question if he is picking at the rock probably eating but soon he will consume more of them then ones left to reproduce. That's why you need a safe place for the pods to reproduce.

They like algae, so try an algae sheet, it was just recommended for me to get one to mow down my hair algae. Do you want to get rid of him?...I have a home for him... PM me.
We are not allowed to buy or sell but I can pay for shipping.

LOL..Not a problem so no need to apologize. I am talking about algae sheets that attach on a clip you let hang in the tank. Most algae eaters like to pick at algae all day. By hanging an algae sheet you give them a nibble place. Nibblers don't want a chunk of food with algae in it, they need to nibble and pick.
