How often should I do this? Mine is getting pretty big but I still have alot of room in my fuge for it to grow. Will it hurt to let it grow for long periods of time?

No dont disturb it YET keep letting it grow THEN when it gets too too big you can then prune it and throw the pieces into your display if you like, it will add some nice pods and bristle worms. If you start playing with it you might stress it out and it will turn white and slowyy die on you.

Don't throw it back into your display for long. You don't want it to start rotting and releasing junk into your water.
Don't play with it, but prune as needed. If it is growing well in your tank it is close to bulletproof.

It is not a good idea to put in DT? My tangs eat it rather quickly so is this still bad? Thanks, Myreef

When you say don't play you mean keep moving it around? I have a huge clump in my DT but it is isolated from main part of tank. Its starting to overgrow so I need to reduce it. I want to make sure I don't do anything dumb.
I have noticed when I move it around it releases alot of junk. I think its just debris, sand, waste etc.
You can see what I have done in pic to back left corner.

"play with it" just meant, like our aquariums in general, to keep your hands out of the tank.
Prune it as needed. Just don't pick at it every couple of days.

Yeah that was a bad call on my part. As soon as I realized the white "ink" was coming off I took out the bottle. That pic is old!

If it is working don't stop. Just make sure it is getting a lot of flow.

My fuge also has massive amounts of hair algae. I broke my small fuge light so I used a 2x65watt pc light 6500K. Will this algae hurt anything. My lr is almost 100% covered with it in my fuge.
