Hello i saw a purpleback chromis and was wondering if anyone ever heard anything bad about them. I think i remember hearing there not so good for community tank. I think he'd fit right in ...color wise... I have 2 clowns and some inverts

They've been known to chase smaller fish around and even attack some fish, but I think that as long as you only have one and your clowns don't bother his "territory", he'll be okay. Your tank is a 55g, so he'll have plenty of his own space. If you do get one, make sure you watch him closely to make sure he's not doing something he shouldn't. :)

I have one in my 55 gallon. It doesn't both anything. I have heard they are aggressive against their own type. I have not heard of problems with it going after other fish.

Purple psuedochromis can be nasty. Try an orchid psuedochromis instead, similar looking and a lot nicer to other fishes.
