Puffer question

I have a df puffer. He is my absolute favorite fish. From tip to tail he is about 8 inches right now. I've had him for a little over a month. I have been reading from this site enough to know that I need to feed him something other than krill for his teeth. Can someone be specific for me? I've seen clams mentioned. Are these the clams I can get from my grocery store or only pet store? Living or dead, fresh or frozen? I do have live rock. Is that enough? He is my first puffer, so I'll admit to a certain amount of ignorance here. Of every fish I have ever owned, this fish is the best. I can sit and watch him for hours, so I want to make sure I give him what he needs. I appreciate everyone's help.

I only feed my Guineafowl Puffer, silversides, krill, Sponge, and squid and he's fine. He gnaws on the LR and fake corals.
During the summer when I can get them I feed him some crayfish and he goes nuts for them.
Never tried clams, but if you did, they have to be raw not cooked. If there's hard stuff in the tank, he'll likely take care of it himself. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Thank you for the advice. I don't know if you've picked up on this, I tend to be to subtle, but I really like this fish. I want to make sure he's happy.
