Puffer with worms?

I just picked up last weekend a porcupine puffer. I put him into a q-tank when I brought him home. Wednesday he had ich so I started hypo. Today it looks like he has little white workms hanging in some spots. The water is sal 1.009, temp 78, ammonia 0, nitrates 0, nitrites 0, and ph 8.1. He is eating fine, and is active. When reading about puffers some of the books I read say that they should be dewormed. Are these worms hanging from his body? If so what can I do?

Anthem, Beth, or Terry. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do about these worm looking things on my puffer. I tried a search here on worms and didn't find anything. The puffer is active, and eating well. Should I worry about the worms, or will hypo take care of them?

I'm not sure if they are in fact worms. They almost look like they could be the puffers spines just hanging limp in a few spots. They are attached to the body so I know that they are not mucos. They are about 1/4" in length, and are white. I do have formalin, had to make a 5 hr. drive to get the stuff, but how can I dip a puffer? If I try to net he puffs up.
