Puffers only puff when stressed - if you search in the agressive forum there is alot of talk on there regarding puffers and while it is a sight to see it is very bad for them if they happen to swallow air at the time they are inflated

my dog faced puffer puffed a few days and it was so awesome like nothing ive ever saw

my first puffer a ss puffer was 13 inches before he had passed away I had him for 3 1/2 yrs he was 4 inches when i got him he puffed up a few times but the day he died he puffed up and could not deflate he looked like a football..my spiney box fish also puffs up periodicly when the other fish bug him usually my lunear wrasse is the culprate he looks like a spiney softball normally i just talk to him and he deflates within seconds
My striped burrfish puffed up once when my lion accidentally caught his tail when going for a piece of krill and another time when he ate too much scallops. He actually threw up and then puffed up for about an hour. He's about 4-5 inches long and was about the size of a softball when puffed.
