I have just started a 29 gallon f/o tank and added three damsels fishes. I really want a pufferfish and I just want to know some info. on them such as what they eat, which puffer is the prettiest, how hardy are they, and when I can introduce them into my tank. Thanks

DON'T PUT A PUFFER INTO YOUR TANK UNTIL IT HAS FULLY CYCLED, ABOUT 3 TO 4 WEEKS. TEST YOUR WATER TO MAKE SURE. FIRST THE AMONIA WILL RISE, THEN LOWER AS THE NITRITES RISE, THEN LOWER AS THE NITRATS RISE. I LIKE A POCUPINE PUFFER THE BEST BUT MIGHT OUT GROW YOUR TANK. AS FAR AS FOOD, DON'T GET ATTACTHED TO THE DAMSELS, THEIR LUNCH. PUFFERS ARE HARDY, MINE SERVIVED THE LAST HALF OF THE TANK CYCLE. YAH, I GOT IN TOO BIG OF A HURRY. HE SEEMS TO REGAGNIZE ME. AT FEEDING TIME, HE DANCES ACROSS THE TOP OF THE WATER. THEY LIKE MEATY FOODS, FEEDER FISH, SHRIMP, FINGERS, ANYTHING THAT WILL FIT IN HIS MOUTH. THEY WILL ALSO EAT INVERTS AND CORAL. BE SURE TO CHECK THE COMPATIBILITY CHART ON THIS SITE.

HI, I HAVE A PORK PUFFER TOO AND I LOVE IT, LOOKS LIKE ET. I FEED HIM FEEDER FISH, SQUID AND FREEZE DRIED KRILL. THIS ONE HIDES ALOT DURING THE DAY BUT AS SOON AS YOU SHUT THE LIGHTS OFF HE'S OUT.

the puffers are hardy and easy to care for, the valentini and banded are on the smaller side and the spiny box, porcupines, masked, stars and stripes, dogface are on the larger side, the smaller ones can be nippers
