Puffer's "Teeth"

I have a 5-6 inch dogface puffer that has been in my tank for about 3 months and awhile back i put in small snails and hermits so that he could nibble on to wear his beak down. Just recently i've noticed that he hasn't touched the inverts and that his beaks seems to be growing (luckily not too long that it interferes with eating yet)
Tonight I tried putting some of the hermits on the feeding tongs and waving it on front of him. He didn't seem to care about them at all.
Is there anything else that would help grind his teeth down?
Currently i'm feeding:
frozen shrimp
mysis shrimp
freeze dried krill
formula 1 frozen
silversides
I typically thaw before feeding but would feeding him pieces a little more frozen help?
Thanks! :help:

Do you have live Rock? My Porcupine Puffer Nibbles at the live rock to wear his teeth down. Yours might be doing the same thing and you just arent noticing.
Also you may want to try live crabs. mine dominated the 10 sand sifting crabs i had. Even the ones they sell on this site arent to bad i think you get 5 of them for like 9 bucks or So. Every once in a while to wear his teeth down tahts not too bad plus theyll stir up your sand bed while they are alive.

I tried putting in three clams for the first time yesterday. Puffer didn't seem to care. They got no attention. I bought them at a Korean grocery store. Looks like they were alive. The shell opens up a tiny bit and then closes.

they are alive if they open and close. it may take him awhile to go after them but when he does it wont take long for him to finish them off.
