blue throat triggers are suppose to be the only true reef safe trigger. I did a lot of searching for answers on both these fish because I too want both or at least one in a reef I'm setting up. some say pink tails, hawaiian black and nigers are semi safe. those are more likely to munch on the clean up crew. even the blue throat is no garauntee. Toby's are likely the best bet as far as puffers. they are definately hit or miss.

I Have A Friend With A Male Crosshatch, He's Had No Problems, They're Supposed To Be Reef Safe. Very Beautiful Fish With A Big Price Tag. As For Puffers I Agree With Stanlalee The Tobeys Would Be Best, Hit Or Miss.

ive heard form many that pink tails are suposedly reef safe. and i have seen a few nigers in reefs without incedent.
tobys probably are you best bet, not only with eating corals, but size wise. a large 18" porky would be pretty bulky in a reef. lol. but like all puffers with anythign else, some will eat corals, others wont. i had some xenia in my fowlr to see if mine would and he never even looked at it. he also wont touch anythign but food i feed him. so he is a good one, but i know others who have just tore reefs apart, esspecialy small crustaceans.
