I need a new fish
. So who ever has puffers list the species and personalitly! I would really love a puffer! I was thinking about a shark egg but now I have second thoughts. I want a nice looking, fun personality, and relatively cheap puffer (under $80). I'm looking for like a Arothron dog face puffer, has a yellow belly. If any of you think this is a good match let me know, if you dont think this is what I'm looking for let me know. And please post your pics of puffers. Thanks.

tank size will be your best answer to type of puffer some fair better in smaller tanks than others do
I had a stars and stripped puffer(puffy) for 3 1/2 yrs in that time scale he went from 4-5 inches to 13 1/2 at time of death(2005 val day
)he was one of first fish purchased
very active and highly messy eaters but very cool personality kinda like having a puppy in your fish tank but from what i have heard from others most have this same type of behavior some a bit nippier than others
after puffy passed away I replaced him with a spiney boxfish puffer(spike) same type of personalty but less aggressive when it comes to feeding and much less clumsy in the tank
I have had spike now 1 yr a bit slower at growth rate then the ss was.

I have a df puffer. I have been involved with saltwater fish for around 12 years, with varying degrees of sucesses and failures. In all of that time, I have never been as attached to a fish as I am to my puffer. He is, bar none, hands down, the coolest fish I have ever had. He definitely has his own little personality. He "pouts" if I do anything to upset him. It scared me the first couple of times he did it. Once I got used to his moods, it became funny. I hand feed him krill. He swims up to the glass to every time I come into the room. If I could only have one fish, it would be my puffer. Good luck with whatever decision you make...

I just bought a df puffer and paid 54 for him. About an hour after I put him in the tank he was already eating. Chasing a shrimp that I brought home from a fishing trip, but he hasnt caught him yet
