How much flow should I have over my new frag? They have constant flow over them right now, they are being moved a lot. they are opened all the way, but arent still and I guess thats why they are not pulsing. (actually you cant tell if the are cuze its moving so much) should I put it where there is less flow or just leav it?

The xenia is one of the most frustrating corals to keep in my opinion. They do great look great pulsing for a while and then go downhill and die or continue to live but stop pulsing. While it is not absolutely understood why they pulse it is generally believe to be related to respiration and gas exchange. This is accomplished by water movement. This movement is provided by the pulsing. It is a common belief that when we provided the xenia with sufficient water movement it no longer need to pulse to cause this movement and simply stops

I feel based on your description that you should move it in to a slower flow area. As Joe was saying there are many ways to read them wrong. They do adjust quickly so try moving them let them sit for a day and see what happens...

I currently have mine in the center of the tank just under pump where I think the flow in my tank is the weakest, it is the only place in the tank where I can tell that they are actually pulsing. Any place else they are being blown around by the current. The look nice and when I saw them after coming back from my two week vacation, they seemed to double in size!
