pulsing xenia is weird in that regard. there isnt any answer why they would stop pulsing. imo, they like low flow w lots of dissolved nutrients in the water. xenia that is not pulsing doesnt mean its in bad health either. my xenia would stop pulsing for weeks, then all of a sudden pulse again. good luck!

lighting is key for them to pulsate. i just had a chunk from of my original split off and only half is pulsating but a few more stalks start everyday

morval said that they need light to pulse. i've got a HO 40 watt 10000K and a 40 watt 10000K actinic. is that enough lighting?

lighting is not the key to pulsing xenia. i hv seen xenia not pulse under mh. unless u hv experimented it, i wouldnt tell people that xenia not pulsing is bc of light.

No one knows for sure why xenia sometimes pulses or doesn't, if it's still perfectly healthy leave it alone and someday it may start up again.

I have had great success with Pom Pom Xenia pulsing in my tanks. But the other species of xenia (I forget what the are called) NEVER pulse.
You might want to try a different species. I almost killed 3 xenia frags during a 2 hour car ride. The frags were in the corner of the bags being crushed. It took a week, but they are the healthiest things I've ever seen. They pulse like crazy.
It is possible that because my tank was new (2 months old), iodine was low, and nutrients were low, they did not want to pulse. This second time around, tank is 7 months old, they are hyper-pulsers.

as stated above, xenia not pulsing is still such a mystery. there isnt really a definite answer.
