Pump/Filter on or off when adding sand?

just added 40 lbs of live sand to my established tank thats been running for 6 months. Water is cloudy now... do i turn pump/filter off or leave it running?
tank is 150 fowler

let it settle first, no pump. after it calms down, the pump actually seems to help further. the filter media will get clogged from the silt though.

thanks.. on average how long does it take visibility to clear up.. rite now i have about 1 to 2 inches of visibility..

I added 20 lbs to a fuge and it took about 3 hrs before i felt comfey putting back on the pump. you wouldn't think it, but the water movement seemed to help it clear up better, but it is probably tough on the pump motors having all that silt in the water.
