pump for water changes

what pump would you all recommend for doing water changes? the water has to travel roughly 12ft. when going back in to the aquarium it does have to travel upwards. I was thinking of getting one from a home improvement store for a pond. seems like they would have enough head on them for this purpose.

A Mag 9.5 or higher would work.

my lfs where I live has the 9.5 for 140 and Id rather pay less for something that will move more water when at higher pressure. I stopped at the home improvement store and looked at one for $100 that is 1450gph with a max head of 18ft. I just think that the salt water might effect it
