Pump for Wet/Dry

I need some help. I have a 72 gallon tank. I have a Rio Hyperflow water pump 26 hooked to my Eshopps wet/dry filter(filter is for a 100-125 gallon tank). Is this pump too big for my filter? I am having water overflow on the bio ball side into the pump side. Is this supposed to happen? I am fairly new and need some help, please!

Hyperflow 26 is moving a whole lot of water. If you are running a reef tank a Bio Ball setup isn't a great idea anyway. They are great for fish only tanks where Nitrates arent an issue but if you are raising corals they can be more trouble than they are worth.
Ideally a wet dry will work by having the water "trickle" over the bioballs, not submerging them. If you have so much flow the water cant flow through the bioballs fast enough then you should look at a smaller pump, something like a Mag 5/7 or Hyperflow 14.
