Pump from refugium, does it kill most pods?

I've been studying saltwater setups for the last 6 months and am getting real close to putting something together now that I think I know about 1% of the info out there :) . My question about the refugium is this: Will the pump kill most/all of the pods that are raised in the refugium? Thanks for your time.

Sylock, like you have been reading a lot on this forum. I am about to move up from a 38 gal to a 75 gal tank. I will have a 29 gal sump with a refugium in it. What I have read to be the best thing to do is to have two pieces of LR in your refugium and every now and then swap one of the rocks out with one from the display tank.
Hope this is some help.

i'm pretty sure the ones that try and make it up to the main tank will be fine. you might lose a few here and there but if you have the refugium contained they will reproduce fast enough to replenish the loses.

If you are worried about your pod population, put your refugium above your tank and gravity feed the water from the refugium to the tank, I am getting ready to set one up like this. Exchanging pieces of live rock is a good idea too.

Hey i think i like that idea could build big cabinet above the tank and sump under. Never thought of it thanks alot  That means larger sump underneath and 20 gal ref <img src="graemlins//freak.gif" border="0" alt="[freak]" />

I just added a ref to my tank. I took one of my overflow lines and dropped it into the $3.25 rubbermaid box (which I put on a "custom" shelf under the tank) and plumbed an over flow line to the sump. $20 with the light and no pump/all gravity. Just my thoughts, buteverything is clicking along to date.
