pump in sump plumbing

Dumb question but how do you attach the pvc plumbing to your return pump?
I have a Quiet One and 4000.

Are you planning on using hard PVC or soft tubing?
For PVC use this: (female thread x slip adapter)

For soft tubing use this (female thread x barbed adapter)

Both are readily available at any Home Depot/Lowe's etc.

I presently have my 110g soft plumbed but will be upgrading to a 220g in a couple of weeks and I wanted to hard plumb it.
