Ok, maybe one day I'll actually get this whole physics thing figured out. Until then, I'm really glad you guys are here to help!
Ok...bought my wet/dry from my LFS for my 125. I know that I want corals down the line so I'm looking to turn over my tank about 20x hr. When I bought my wet/dry, I also bought a 1800 mag drive pump. Dude at LFS told me there was no such thing as too much flow...I believed him...
But he lied...too much flow happens when your siphons don't siphon fast enough for your pump
I have two siphons on the overflow and about a 50 gal wet/dry. It takes, oh, about 10 seconds for my pump to drain my sump. My overflow boxes are completely underwater. So I don't think the issue is that they're not getting enough water to siphon.
Is there anything I can do short of getting a smaller pump? I just keep telling myself that this will be worth it in the long run...ugh
