pump question

I am setting up a 55g. tank with a wet/dry filter, it did not come with a pump to return the water to the tank, the hose is about 4 ft. long and the distance from the pump to the tank is abut 3 1/2 ft. tall. can anyone recommend the proper pump I need for this setup (gph?) Thanks

Your return pump can not be larger than what the overflow/drain can handle so, because I dont know what size overflow you have I cant tell you.
However for a 55g to have 15 X turnover you should have a total of around 800 to 900 gph in there.
If your return can not be that big then you can add powerheads in the main tank to make upthe difference.
If you want 15 X or whatever because I also dont know what kind of livestock you want to keep.

Thanks for the reply, I am still pretty new to all of this, how do I determine what my overflow size is? and would a pic help?
