hello all.....first I want to thank everyone for all useful info...alright now for my question..I just installed a sump/refuge.. overflow works fine, but i can't seem to get my pump to work. Its a simer utility/waterfall pump rated at 2100gph. I drilled two holes on return pipe for a siphon break, and i can not seem to get the pump to prime and pump it only wants to siphon out (until it hits the two holes). Is there some sort of trick to primping this pump to get it to pump water??
thanks for your help

WELCOME!

I dont think you have this set up right post how it's actually plumbed. A pic can be very helpful also. What size tank? what is the actual pump? The return pump should go in the return chamber of the sump/fuge, or oustide it and plumbed through the wall of the sump/fuge. It cant prime itself raised above the fuge's water level. Also, are you sure this pump is SW rated?
