pumping from basement

is anyone pumping their fresh top off water from basement to their tank ?
what pump are you using ?
i have about 15' of total 1/2" line and about 6' of vertical travel
any pump suggestions?

You could actually run the cord from downstairs to upstairs and plug it in until you get how much water you want then unplug. No messes or mess ups!

Well I looked over the post again and you are wanting just top off water like a couple gallons huh. Oh well here is some useless info someone might find useful!

yea i am sick of carrying buckets of water upstairs. i have a switched outlet off the back of tank for running pump ,ran cord downstairs with pipe. ordered pump tonite ill let you know if i ordered a big enough one

I feel your pain.
Yes, I have my RODI/fish room down in the basement. I have switches upstairs near my tank so that I can pump up fresh top off water, or salt water. It's very easy to do.

Any pump rated for at least 25ft of head pressure should do.
Personally, I'd look for a large pump of lower quality to keep your price down, since the application is not critical to your tank. Upsizing the line might be something you need to look at. Any pump rated for significant head pressure is going to be a higher flow model, and as such will have larger output connections... 3/4" or 1" probably.
Be sure to go significantly over when sizing the pump. If your height is 16', you'll want to go 25' at least. The head rating of a pump is frequently overstated, and the maximum height is usually when the pump literally completely stops lifting, so if you have 16' of height and you get a pump rated for that, you'll be getting a tiny trickle of water at that point.

i got a aqua-via 3600 which is rated for 16' i think
i only needed to go up 6'
it works nearly perfect just enuff flow that it doesn't splash water all over
no more buckets for me
