Does it move? Like wonder around? Mine has. I got a frag with 4 individual stems. I have placed the tile it was on on top of my live rock. Two pieces have since moved to the rock it was near. One other has attached to the glass. There is nothing left behind to ever think they were on the piece of tile. Is this normal? I have had them for over a month. I swore they were moving but in the past week they have went into turbo mode and took off!

They don't move, but they can detach and let the current take them to a more suitable area. But they cannot "walk" like an anemone can.

they move but not like an anemone. what they do is as they grow they will attach themselfes to the neerest rock glass what ever is next to them i hed several ocations that I had to remove them of polyps their general direction is usualy up towards the light you'll see if the water condition is good and you have strong light the xenia will spread preaty fast.

i have had coals that move, they dont really walk but here is what happens.
you have them on your tile, a smooth rock or surface.
since they desire more light, they will aim towards where the light comes from. if they lean left, they will eventually attatch on an angle, and the back part where they used to be centered will detatch.
this can also happen if they are in strong flow and the flow is moving them to one side.
so, it can only happen with softies, but the corals themselves cant control their motion. their environment does.
my zoas and palys move all over my frag plugs quite often.

Sorry to steal the post, but I too have 2 frags that have gone crazy the past few weeks I've had them. I noticed there were attaching themselfs from the frag plug to the rock. Well I though that one of them was 99% off the plug so I was just going to remove the plug and when I was carefully doing that a jolt ripped the main steam. It curled into it's self and I just left it be. Will it be ok and grow back to itself?

There is a good chance that it will grow back. If not don't worry because you might have a tank full of it.
