purchase tank online?

Anyone ever buy a tank online? Where? Or is the LFS still the best place to buy a tank? I'm just curious. I already have one 65g that I purchased through my LFS and I'm interested in getting another and just wanted to check prices out online and see if there are better deals. Also does the "name brand" of the tank matter or is a tank just a tank?

IMO..
LFS would be the best place.. Shipping is expensive and you run the risk of it breaking..

Most on-line places do not in fact sell tanks except maybe those little eclipse type dealies.
Shipping being the reason. Definately go to the lfs or your classifieds for used.

Check out what they got for custon sizes. I want to order a 1000gal real bad. When I do, this is prob where I will get it from. The lfs would want to charge 10k for one.

ever thought about building one yourself? If you are mechanically inclined this way is by far the most cost effective, but is not without risks. (I built a 260 gallon which ended up leaking because i failed to seal it properly). You also could check with a glass or acrylic dealer (possibly you have one within reasonable driving distance?) or manufacturer to see if they will do one for you. They may have an employee or two that will be willing to build you one for a fee. This is what i will attempt to do once i am done with college and have the space for a large aquarium (1000 gallons plus)If you decide to go this route, let us know how it turns out for you... good luck

Hey, I'm curious for the same info..good question. And all you owners out there...on an 85 gallon, should I be paying twice as much to go acrylic? I've heard all the bonuses of acrylic and would love your opinions.
